  This is an invitation only program.  This season promises to provide exciting fun, growth and development for your child through specialized training by our excellent professional trainers.

The Academy Select program runs in parallel to the Recreational season, the purpose is to group together the players that have a more sound understanding of the game and are motivated to learn, so that they can advance more readily towards an understanding of the 'beautiful' game.

Your son or daughter will still be on a recreational team and attend regular recreational practices (1 day per week) and games (Fri or Sat).  However, in addition they will participate 1 night per week in a 1 hour training session at Putnam Park with the Palm Harbor Nighthawks Club Trainers. 

The format for these training sessions will be to work on core skills in the beginning of the session and end with small sided scrimmages.   As these sessions continue we will break the kids up into teams which they will stay with for their scrimmages and eventually play with in an Academy Select Tournament. 

We are starting the Select program this Tuesday on March 4th from 5:30-6:30 at Putnam Park (Practice will be each week on Tuesday during this same time slot.  This is a bit before the Spring recreational program starts and it will then continue during the recreational season and cap off with the Academy Select Tournament. 

Common Questions:

1) What age groups will play within the Academy Select Program?   Mostly 7 and 8 year olds, however there will be some exceptional 6 year olds and some 9 year olds invited out.  The 6 year olds will be future U8 developmental team candidates, the 9 year olds will be future U10 club team candidates

2)      Is there a fee?  There will be a nominal fee to cover a T-shirt, the trainers, and equipment fees.  At this time we have not worked out all the costs so for now please just come and practice.  We do know the expected range of the fee is between $30-$40.

3)      Will the fee be weekly or just one time?  Just one time.  The intention is to run in parallel to the regular recreational season and it is a requirement to be part of the Rec program.

4)      What is the advantage of the Academy Select?  This program will group the children together that have some more advanced understanding (or coach ability) of the game and allow them to grow more quickly with the sport.

5)      Do I still join the Rec program?  Yes, this program runs in parallel to the recreational program and is not a replacement. 

6)      When will I actually sign up and pay the required fees?  We expect to finalize all the details in the next few weeks and will send out a follow-up email at that time.  However we wanted to get the kids started now rather
